Abstract

The article investigates the nature of employees’ resistance to organizational changes in the context of digital transformation. The rapid development of digital technologies is forcing organizations to fundamentally rethink their business models, management approaches, and organizational structures. In this process, human capital becomes a key factor determining the effectiveness of digital transformation initiatives. However, the implementation of digital innovations is often accompanied by various forms of resistance from employees, which may significantly slow down or even hinder transformation processes. The study identifies the main causes of resistance arising during digital transformation. It is emphasized that resistance is a natural reaction of organizational systems to uncertainty, technological complexity, and changes in established work practices. Such reactions may occur at individual, group, and organizational levels and are often related to fear of job loss, insufficient digital competencies, lack of understanding of transformation goals, or distrust in management decisions. The paper analyzes contemporary theoretical approaches to change management and highlights the importance of integrating behavioral, organizational, and technological dimensions when implementing digital transformation strategies. Particular attention is paid to the role of leadership, organizational culture, and continuous learning in reducing resistance and increasing employee engagement in transformation processes. A systematized framework of managerial methods aimed at overcoming resistance to change is proposed. These methods are grouped into several key directions: resource support, information and communication strategies, motivational mechanisms, cognitive development of digital competencies, socio-psychological support, technological management tools, and organizational governance mechanisms. The results of the study demonstrate that a comprehensive approach to managing resistance to change contributes to strengthening employees’ readiness for innovation, increasing organizational adaptability, and improving the effectiveness of digital transformation. The findings may be useful for managers and researchers studying organizational change management and digital transformation processes.
